Kickstarter Consulting

ABOUT Laser campaigns:

In 2011, I started a musical duo with my sister called the Doubleclicks, and in 2014, thanks to Kickstarter, the band was a full-time job for both of us!  I now run a music consulting company that helps independent musicians and bands leverage their online audience.

I use my experience in crowdfunding, tour planning, promotions, video production, and project management to help other indie artists create—and get paid for—awesome music, games, films, and events.  I've raised over $400,000 on Kickstarter and Patreon for musicians, game companies, and filmmakers, exceeding each funding goal.

I work with creators to make sure they are treating Kickstarter with respect, putting work into the campaign and into nurturing their audience before, during, and after the campaign. I make plans for campaigns that can fulfill on time, starting from the beginning and avoiding the nightmares that come from runaway stretch goals. I also make sure we are communicating clearly and constantly with backers.

I think a good campaign requires a lot of work and a lot of research, but the result can be not only creation of something wonderful, but also a deep and wonderful connection with an audience!

Together, we will create a plan together that works for your needs, your art/product, and your audience. I have experience with: social media plans, pre-launch community building, promotion, press, and submission of album sales to Billboard, creating a page that appeals to both existing and new fans, pricing and logistics in reward creation and shipping, video production, and more! A successful Kickstarter is more than just a great page, and I'll help you figure out all of the steps.

Lynn O’Brien made $15,000 during her first Kickstarter campaign, smashing expectations for her amazing new album.

Working with [Laser] was one of THE best decisions I made as I look back on the process of creating my very first Kickstarter campaign (and recording my latest album). Laser was (and is) a calm, steady, trustworthy communicator and experienced Kickstarter consultant who walked me through every step of the way. They listened carefully to the areas where I most needed help, offered helpful suggestions readily, was on-time and fully accessible, and championed me before AND after my campaign! With their help, I finally started having FUN sharing on social media, engaging my community, and when it came time to launch - I met my dream goal in 6 days and ended up over 150% funded - YAHOO! Making a Kickstarter is a lot of work (in addition to making the crowdfunded project itself of course), and having a companion and guide through the process has been invaluable for my mental health and ability to have fun with the journey. To my artist friends and anyone reading, I can't recommend working with them enough!

Lena Elizabeth’s first full-length album made $8,000 and brought her into the studio for a wonderful debut.

Juliana Finch made a splashy return to kickstarter with a $13,000 project for her rebellious, political folk album.

Rebecca Hass funded her first album of instrumental piano music with a $6,000 project.

Paul Melancon returned to music after a decade away with an over-$7,000 project.

Lucia Fasano - singer-songwriter - raised over $6,000 to fund her debut album and a west coast tour! Lucia said this:

"This was my first Kickstarter and Laser lead me through it with patience and expertise, turning a potentially stressful experience into a fun and prosperous one!"

The PDX Broadsides - formerly a pirate band, now a group of feminist nerdy song-slingers, raised over $12,000 on their very first Kickstarter project!

Twogether Studios - raised $17,000 for their card game Action Cats!
